How to Compare Car Repair Quotes in the UAE

By 800 Motor · Updated

Compare the proposed work and the total payable, not just the headline price. Request a written scope showing diagnosis, parts, labour, additional charges and what requires further approval.

Give each garage the same starting information

Send the make, model, year, powertrain, mileage and a concise description of the concern. Include when it happens, warning messages and any previous repair report. A quote for planned maintenance is different from a quote to investigate an intermittent fault.

For example, an oil-and-filter package and an engine fault investigation should not be compared as if they are the same service. Ask the advisor to separate the scheduled work from diagnostic work so you can see what each amount covers.

Request a breakdown that can be compared

Use this checklist when requesting a quote from 800 Motor or another provider. It is a buying aid, not a statement that every item is included in a particular package.

  • Diagnostic charge and whether it is credited against approved repair work.
  • Part description, brand, part number where available, and whether new, reconditioned or used.
  • Labour, fluids, consumables and any calibration or programming.
  • Collection, recovery, delivery or mobile attendance fees.
  • Tax treatment, total payable, quote validity and parts availability.
  • Warranty provider, covered parts and labour, exclusions and claim process.

Agree what happens if the scope changes

Ask the advisor to contact you with findings and an updated total before extra work proceeds. Keep the accepted quotation and the explanation of the proposed repair. If the inspection cannot yet establish a fixed repair cost, ask what the diagnostic stage will cost and what decision it is intended to resolve.

A useful request is: ‘Please quote for the assessment first, explain the findings, and confirm the repair total with me before ordering parts.’ This creates a clear booking instruction without assuming a diagnosis.

Plan the handover as well as the booking

Ask what checks will be completed after the work, what appears on the invoice and how to report a recurring concern. Keep the mileage, job report and warranty details together. If there are recommended future jobs, ask which are urgent and which can be scheduled later, with the reason for each.

Use the existing Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah repair page to start your enquiry. The exact work, available appointment and suitable service location should be confirmed for your vehicle.
